Hospitality Table Cornwall attended its first Expowest event with Truro and Penwith College Business at Royal Cornwall Showground at the beginning of March.
Expowest Cornwall is a crucial event on the business and social calendar to get straight to the heart of the Cornish business community. The event is specifically aimed at those involved in hospitality or catering, food or drink, with a particular focus on Cornish producers or consumers.
As an employer-led project, Expowest was a fantastic opportunity for us to reconnect with existing employers whilst creating strong first impressions with visitors and employers new to the project.
Over the course of the three days, we had met and connected with a number of fantastic Cornish businesses, suppliers and hospitality enthusiasts. Our Course Designer/Developers Tony Duce, Hannah Dome and Dean Bungay took a day each to create tasters for visitors; all of which were to showcase our fantastic industry with an insight into what you can learn to create on our courses.
Tony Duce kicked off the event with two dishes, mackerel and pigeon, both of which were cooked fresh and finished to perfection for visitors to taste.
On day two Hannah Dome created an afternoon tea
(without the tea) on the second day of Expowest, creating a three-tier stand full of sweet patisserie fancies, scones and sandwiches.
On the final day of Expowest our Mixologist Dean Bungay created two mocktails, CosNOpoliton and Espresso MartiNO (both of which were alcohol free).
All three of our Course Designer/Developers exhibited three aspects of the diverse hospitality industry, all aspects of which we aim to highlight through project.
