We were delighted to attend the Potluck Cornwall Alfresco Chat and Eat Night at Philleigh Cookery School on Tuesday.
The relaxed evening consisted of meeting like-minded foodie people from all over Cornwall while feasting on a three-course meal.
Our Skills Broker Mark Lewin was the guest speaker at Potluck’s Taor McDougall’s last Chat and Eat night before her maternity leave. Mark spoke about his journey into the industry and how the Hospitality Table Project is aiming to shape the future of our hospitality industry by upskilling staff with fully-funded courses, inspiring the next generation and supporting recruitment and retention of staff.
The event was held at the beautiful Philleigh Way Cookery School under their veranda and despite the rain outside, the atmosphere was fantastic and welcoming, especially with the smells of the wood fires and delicious food such as Arancini, Woodfired Gyros and Roasted Run Banana for dessert.
Hospitality Hacks 2019 Winner Potluck Cornwall host their Chat and Eat nights to attract new and former Potluck members, bringing the Cornish community together. Potluck itself is run by Taor McDougall, who started the venture as a hobby to meet new people and for people to try different Cornish dishes.
“It was Mark and I’s first ever Potluck event and despite the weather outside, the guests and event as a whole completely lightened the spirit of a rainy evening. The food had been prepared and cooked by Philleigh Way on their outdoor woodfire and it tasted amazing! It was a fantastic opportunity to meet new people – we’ll definitely be back for more Potluck events!” Niki Thomas, Marketing and Events Assistant said.
A huge thank you to Potluck Cornwall and Philleigh Way Cookery School for having us as a guest speaker at our very first Potluck night – it will hopefully be one of many! For more information about Potluck Cornwall, visit https://www.potluckcornwall.co.uk/
